The Kentucky women?s basketball team will play host to first-time opponent Wofford, members of the Southern Conference, Monday, Jan. 7 in Memorial Coliseum in the Wildcats? final non-conference game of the regular season. Game time is slated for 7 p.m. EST and it will be carried live on the Big Blue Sports Network (radio) with Neil Price.

Single-game general admission tickets are available for $5 adults/$2 senior citizens and children 6-18. Ages five and under are admitted free. UK students, faculty and staff also are admitted free with valid identification based on availability. For ticket information, log on to ukathletics.com or call the UK ticket office at 859-257-1818 or 1-800-928-CATS (2287).

The Wildcats (5-8) are looking to find answers to their scoring woes after shooting a dismal 25.4 percent, including 11.1 percent in the second half vs. Xavier last week. Despite leading by as a many as 13 points in the first half, UK hit just three second-half field goals and lost to the visiting Musketeers, 51-46. UK has not hit over 40 percent from the field since Dec. 8 vs. Michigan. UK?s defense has been playing solid, however, as opponents are hitting just .394 percent from the field.

?Hopefully our shooting has improved since our last game,? UK Coach Matthew Mitchell said. ?We?ve had some intense, solid practices this week and this game will be a key test for us prior to opening conference play. Wofford is a solid team that is coming in here on a six-game winning streak. They have a lot to prove and we have to be able to stop them defensively and shoot better than we have in the past few games.?

Senior guard Samantha Mahoney (Detroit) leads UK in scoring and ranks sixth in the Southeastern Conference with 15.2 points per game. Senior center Sarah Elliott (McKee, Ky.) follows Mahoney in the scoring column with 12.0 ppg. She also pulls down a team-high 7.1 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game.

Wofford (9-4, 2-1 SoCon), located in Spartanburg, S.C., enters the game on a six-game winning streak after defeating Furman on Saturday, 78-71, in conference play. Junior guard Liz Miller leads the team in scoring with 12.2 points per game. Senior forward Kelsi Koenig is the team?s top rebounder with 6.1 rpg.

This is the first meeting between UK and Wofford in school history. The Wildcats are 9-0 all-time vs. teams from the Southern Conference.
