The Kentucky women?s soccer team travels to Nashville this weekend for one of the biggest regular season match-ups in UK memory.

The Wildcats (9-6-3, 3-6-1 SEC) currently sit in ninth place in the Southeastern Conference standings on the final weekend of play. The SEC takes only the top eight teams to the league tournament; a tournament the Wildcats have never failed to qualify for, making them the only school in the league to do so.

Kentucky currently has 10 points in league play (three points for a win, one point for a tie), while the Vanderbilt Commodores (6-8-3, 3-4-2) sit in eighth place with 11 points and one match remaining after Friday?s contest with the Cats. A win puts UK momentarily in eighth place, but they must await the Florida-Vanderbilt outcome on Sunday. A tie or loss with the Commodores on Friday would end Kentucky?s season.

The Wildcats are riding the momentum of a four-match unbeaten streak, their longest such streak of the conference season. Kentucky has caught fire of late posting wins over Arkansas (2-1), Mississippi State (3-2) and Ole Miss (2-0) while mixing in a tie with then No. 24 LSU (1-1).

UK is coming off its first shutout in SEC play last week when freshman goalie Sydney Hiance and the Kentucky defense held the Ole Miss Rebels scoreless with a 2-0 victory.

Vanderbilt owns an 11-9-0 edge in the all-time series which includes a 5-3-0 mark against Kentucky in Nashville. UK won the last meeting between the two teams, a 1-0 victory in Lexington last season, and has won six of the last seven match-ups against the Commodores.
