LEXINGTON, Ky. ? In only their fourth match playing together, the Kentucky men?s tennis doubles team of junior Bruno Agostinelli and freshman Brad Cox battled to defeat the top doubles pair in the quarterfinals of the Wilson/ITA Southeast Indoor Regional on Sunday.

After a slow start, Agostinelli and Cox trailed the top-seeded team of Mathieu Thibaudeau and Dan Buikema, ranked fifth in the ITA preseason doubles poll. The Cats battled back to knot the set up at eight games all to force a tiebreak. Kentucky won the break yielding just four points; earning the pair a spot in the doubles semifinals scheduled for early afternoon Monday at the UK Boone Indoor Tennis Center.

The Wildcat tandem?s victory is the second over a seeded team at the regional. The pair took out the fifth-seeded team of Nate Schnugg and Jamie Hunt of Georgia in the first round.

In other doubles action Sunday, the fifth-seeded duo of seniors Will Ward and Marcus Sundh also played a tiebreak but came out on the wrong end of their quarterfinal match against Auburn?s Terrence Nugent and Alexsey Tsyrenov, 9-8 (6).

Earlier in the morning session Ward faced the top seed in the singles quarterfinals, falling in two sets to Mississippi?s Erling Tveit.

A semifinal singles match is scheduled for Monday at 9:30 a.m. ET to kick off the final day of the tournament at Boone.
