WINDERMERE, Fla. ? The University of Kentucky men?s golf team is currently 15th after one round of play at the prestigious Isleworth-UCF Collegiate in Windermere, Fla. The Wildcats shot a day-one score of 297 to stand 13 strokes behind three teams who are tied for first after one day at the Isleworth Golf and Country Club.
Fourth-ranked Oklahoma State, host-team Central Florida and No. 7 Southern California are all knotted with identical totals of 284. Wake Forest is fourth with a score of 285, while Florida State rounds out the top five with a day one total of 286.
ETSU?s Rhys Enoch, UCF?s Greg Forest and Southern Cal?s Jamie Lovemark are tied atop the individual leaderboard with first-round scores of four-under par 68. UK senior Cale Barr is one stroke behind them after firing a first-round 69 to lead the Wildcats. Barr carded four birdies in the opening round, including three on the back nine.
Junior Andy Winings shot even par 72 on the first day with two birdies and is tied for 23rd overall. Sophomore Derek Oldham had two birdies on the day but finished with a four-over 76 to tie for 68th in the individual standings. Junior Ben Fuqua and sophomore Jordan Blann round out the scoring for the Wildcats tied for 81st overall after both shot an eight-over par 80 on the opening day of the three-day tournament.
The event continues on Monday with an 8 a.m. start and wraps up on Tuesday with the final 18 holes.
