LEXINGTON, Ky. ? The University of Kentucky plays host to almost 150 men?s tennis players from 28 schools scattered throughout the Southeast this weekend at the Wilson/ITA Southeast Indoors Regional. The tournament provides fans the opportunity to see 26 ranked players from the ITA pre-season top 125. All ranked players are seeded and will serve on Friday.
First round match-play for singles begins Thursday, while seeded players start competition on Friday in the round of 64. Doubles tandems take serve on Friday. Kentucky boasts three seeded players in singles: #9 Bruno Agostinelli (No. 44), # 18 Will Ward (No. 90) and #25 Marcus Sundh. UK head men?s tennis coach Dennis Emery serves as the tournament director.
The tournament concludes on Monday with the singles semifinals and final as well as the doubles final. Live scoring updates will be provided on UKathletics.com starting with quarterfinal matches on Sunday.
Three locations in Lexington serve as sites for the tournament: the UK indoor courts at the Boone Tennis complex on campus, the Lexington Tennis Club and the Gold?s Gym off of Palumbo. All Sunday and Monday matches will be played at the Boone Tennis Center.
All athletes will have the opportunity to play at least two matches, with at least one main draw match and a possible consolation match if the athlete loses his first contest.
