Each Tuesday, UKathletics.com will ask a handful of Kentucky gymnasts their opinions about a specific issue in current events or pop culture and how it relates to the team. With much discussion in the news already about the 2008 Presidential Election, it seemed appropriate to see which Wildcat would make the best politician.
Nine Kentucky gymnasts were polled to see which team member they thought would be the best suited for a career as a politician. The results are in ? at least for this election ? and senior Crissy Cannon has been elected. Six of the nine Wildcats polled think Cannon would make the best politician of any of their teammates. Sophomore Emily Green received the other three votes.
Cannon, a native of Lenoir City, Tenn., may not be planning on a career in public office, but she certainly plans to pursue public service. Cannon wants to one day open a house of refuge for women and children in Africa. She calls the idea of moving to Africa to accomplish her goals ?a dream come true.?
Green, a Rochester, N.Y., native, is not necessarily planning on becoming one of history?s great politicians, but she hopes to pass on her knowledge of politicians from the past to future generations. Her career aspirations include becoming a high school history teacher.
