The University of Kentucky women?s golf team improved 87 spots in the latest Golfweek rankings after finishing 14th at the Mason Rudolph Invitational announced Monday.
Behind Mallory Blackwelder?s top-10 finish, UK which entered the tournament rated 118th placed 31st in this week?s poll easily the highest ranking for the team in the last three years.
Blackwelder also made strides, as she is considered the 10th best player in the country with her ninth place finish at Vanderbilt. Blackwelder carded the fourth top-10 finish of her young career after shooting one-under for the tournament. Her finish automatically placed her in the starting lineup for Kentucky in their next event, the Lady Wildcat Fall Invitational. The Versailles native captured the Blue and White home event crown in 2005 as a freshman with Florida.
