Tight end Jacob Tamme and tailback Alfonso Smith have been selected as game captains for this week?s contest vs. Louisville, Coach Rich Brooks has announced.

Game captains are usually chosen based on performance in previous games. Tamme, a senior from Danville, Ky., has caught three passes for 37 yards in UK?s two opening wins and his blocking has played a key role in the Wildcat running game. Smith, a sophomore from Louisville, Ky., was picked primarily because of his outstanding kickoff and punt coverage on special teams. He has made three tackles so far this season and also has played well at tailback, rushing 13 times for 107 yards (8.2 average) and two touchdowns, and has caught one touchdown pass.

On Saturday, Tamme and Smith will join permanent captains Andr? Woodson and Wesley Woodyard for the coin toss.

Following Wednesday morning?s practice at the Nutter Training Center, Brooks noted that defensive tackle Myron Pryor has been upgraded from doubtful to questionable for Saturday?s game. Pryor is recovering from a strained pectoral muscle sustained in the win over Kent State.
