Redshirt freshman defensive tackle Ricky Lumpkin is out for an indefinite period of time and junior defensive tackle Myron Pryor is ?questionable to doubtful? for the Louisville game, Coach Rich Brooks announced following Tuesday morning?s practice.
Lumpkin sustained a hip injury and Pryor incurred a strained pectoral muscle in Saturday?s win over Kent State. The injuries represent a significant toll on the defensive tackle positions. Pryor is a starter and Lumpkin is the top reserve at the defensive tackle slots.
?It?s a challenge,? Brooks said of the situation. ?The disheartening thing is that both of those guys are at the same position. With everybody healthy there, I felt really good about the rotation and the depth and the competition. Now that?s thinned out a little bit.?
Brooks said on Monday that junior Ventrell Jenkins would be the likely starter if Pryor is unable to start against the Cardinals and that senior defensive end Travis Day also could see action at tackle if necessary.
Early Arrival Encouraged for Saturday; UK Says ?Thanks? to the Fans: With a capacity crowd set to attend Saturday?s game vs. Louisville, fans are encouraged to arrive early at Commonwealth Stadium in order to help with traffic flow.
UK Athletics says ?thanks? to the fans for their assistance in helping entry lines to Commonwealth Stadium go smoothly at last Saturday?s Kent State game. Fans help stadium entry go more quickly by getting to the gate earlier, when each person holds his/her own ticket, and the bar code is pointed toward the ticket attendant in order to get a quicker scan.
?Buyer Beware? for Tickets Not Bought Through UK or TicketMaster: Fans are reminded ?buyer beware? for game tickets not purchased through the official outlets, UK Athletics or TicketMaster.
Tickets that have been reported lost or stolen have cancelled bar codes and will not be admitted to Commonwealth Stadium.
