LEXINGTON, Ky.?Former University of Kentucky women?s golfer Kelly Anders has been named assistant women?s golf coach at her alma mater, head coach Myra Blackwelder announced Monday.

“Kelly Anders brings SEC recruiting experience, tremendous enthusiasm, and passion for UK women’s golf to our program,? said Blackwelder. ?I am delighted to fill this spot on my staff with a UK graduate and former Lady Cat.”

Since graduating from UK with a degree in communications, Anders spent three seasons as an assistant coach with the University of Mississippi women?s golf team. The Lady Rebels attained 11 top-10 finishes in her three seasons with the team.

Prior to Ole Miss, Anders worked as a volunteer assistant coach in the Fall of 2004 with Kentucky.

Additionally, Anders became a PGA Program Member in January 2006. Her membership is focused on the area of education dedicated to business and marketing. She also provides individual and group instruction on swing fundamentals, course management, drills and competitive strategies.

“It is an honor and a privilege to work for such an outstanding institution that is rich in pride and tradition,? said Anders. ?I was blessed to be able to represent the Lady Cats in college, and I look forward to the challenge of assisting Coach Blackwelder in getting the program back to a national level.”

A four-year letterwinner playing for the Blue and White, Anders served as a captain and was rated 23rd in the nation by Golfweek as a senior. Her career top finishes were a second-place finish in the Lady Wildcat Fall Invitational and fourth in the Lady Tar Heel Invitational in the fall of 2002. That fall she also shot a career-low 68 at the Raven Golf Course, tying the then existing tournament record at the ACC/SEC shootout in Destin, Fla.

In her amateur career, Anders claimed the 2001 Kentucky Open Championship played at Hurstborne Country Club in Louisville.
