SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Kentucky’s track and field athletes are currently in their third day of competition Friday at the 2007 NCAA Championships in Sacramento, Calif., at the Alex G. Spanos Sports Complex.

6:57 p.m. EDT – The Wildcats have arrived at the track as senior Luis Luna (Barquisimeto, Venezeula) and freshman Jenna Martin (Nova Scotia, Canada) prepare to compete in the 400-meter dash semifinals. The duo looks to qualify for Saturday’s final. Luna’s race is at 8:55 p.m. EDT, while Martin runs at 9:05 p.m. EDT.
7:01 p.m. EDT – A quick weather report for you as Luna and Martin ready for their races. It is currently 84 degrees in Sacramento, but with the wind, it feels about 81 degrees. The wind is out of the Southwest at 7 mph. By the time UK’s races commence, it will be about 69 degrees with clear skies and winds out of the West Southwest at 9 mph. There is a zero percent chance of rain today.
8:47 p.m. EDT – Luna is about ready to compete in his race to hopefully close his collegiate career with a trip to the NCAA Finals.
9:02 p.m. EDT – Luna ran a strong race, but against a tough field was unable to advance to the finals with a time of 46.55. Jenna Martin’s race is up next.
9:17 p.m. EDT – Martin ran strong, but the field was incredibly strong. She finished in an admirable time of 52.98 as only one of three UK sprinters in school history to break the 53-second mark, which she has done multiple times this season.
