Conditions were less than ideal due to rain and unseasonably cold temperatures for the 2007 Soccer Alumni Weekend which began last Friday. However, UK Soccer alums did not allow that to spoil their time in Lexington. Alumni came in all the way from California, Colorado, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Ontario (Canada), and Texas just to name a few of their current home states.

The alumni soccer games that were to be played on Saturday morning were washed away by the weather conditions. The women?s alumni still gathered at the UK Soccer Complex to rub elbows with current team members and staff as they enjoyed some lunch together. Both sets of alumni then headed out to enjoy Keeneland thoroughbred horse racing and Lexington for the remainder of the day and night.

?It?s always good to see our alumni and learn about what they are up to in their lives,? said women?s head coach Warren Lipka. ?It makes me proud to learn of all of their success stories. I think it was great that both programs? alumni came together to share in some fun. We hope to make this an annual event now in the spring.?

The Wildcat women conclude their spring schedule this Saturday at 5:00 p.m. against nationally ranked West Virginia at the UK Soccer Complex. Admission is free. The UK men complete their spring slate at Dayton on Saturday against the home standing Flyers at noon and then Bowling Green at 1:15 p.m.
