LEXINGTON, Ky.?Sophomore Bruno Agostinelli was named to the All-Southeastern Conference second team as announced by the conference offices Wednesday.

The sophomore posted his second consecutive season of 20 or more wins, and led the team in wins for the second straight season. The Niagara Falls, native played matches against 16 ranked opponents this season and scored five upsets.

His highlight win of the season was upsetting the country?s top ranked player in Ohio State?s Steve Moneke in February. Agostinelli prevailed over three sets and then earned Conference Player of the Week for his efforts. His longest winning streak of the season was over five matches which began with the defeat of Moneke.

Agostinelli was among the ITA rankings over the course of the entire season, with his peak rank standing at No. 59. A season ago, Agostinelli was tabbed SEC Freshman of the Year. The last Wildcat named to the second-team All-SEC team was Tigran Martirosyan in 2005. In 2006, Alex Hume earned first team honors.

Alabama’s Billy Pate and Georgia’s Manual Diaz were named SEC Co-Coaches of the Year. The Bulldogs? John Isner garnered SEC Player of the Year honors for the second consecutive season, while Florida’s Jesse Levine was named SEC Freshman of the Year. LSU’s Kevin Dessauer was named Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Kentucky (13-14, 3-8) returns to action Thursday in the opening round of the SEC Championships. The Blue and White will take on Auburn in the 11 a.m. match hosted by Louisiana State.
