LEXINGTON, Ky.?Senior Katie Johnson of the University of Kentucky women?s golf team was tabbed as a member of the 2007 SEC Community Service Team as announced by the league offices Wednesday.

This marks the second consecutive season the senior has been named to the Community Service team, formally known as the Good Works Team.

This year the Lexington native has been involved in a number of activities. The biology major who aspires to be a pediatrician periodically volunteers at the local children?s hospital. Johnson was a volunteer for the Special Olympics bowling event in Kentucky. Additionally, she is a member of UK?s SAAC board.

In addition to her two-time appearance on the Community Service Team, Johnson has twice been named Academic All-SEC in both her sophomore and junior campaigns.

Johnson was originally a walk-on to the women?s golf program, but has since emerged as regular on the squad?s starting lineup.

At the SEC Championships beginning on Friday, it will mark Johnson?s 11th tournament appearance this season a new career-high. She will also play a career-high 31 rounds. Johnson led the team in scoring in the Ross Resorts Invitational in October where she carded a season- and career-low 73 on the final day of competition.

Joining Johnson on the 2007 team are: Alabama?s Lisa Andrzejewski, Arkansas? Stacy Lewis, Auburn?s Margaret Shirley, Georgia?s Whitney Wade, LSU?s Nicole Crochet, Ole Miss? Katherine Jones, South Carolina?s Blythe Worley, Tennessee?s Holly Cantwell and Vanderbilt?s Liebelei Lawrence.

Johnson joins Stacy Springer in 2005 as the only other Wildcat to earn a spot on the SEC?s team that pays tribute to community service.
