KNOXVILLE, Tenn. ? The Kentucky track and field squads notched six NCAA regional-qualifying marks Friday to highlight a successful first day at the 41st annual Sea Ray Relays hosted by the University of Tennessee at the Tom Black Track.

Sophomore distance runner Taylor Miller (Owensboro, Ky.) notched a personal-best and regional-qualfying time of 16:50.30 to finish fifth in the women?s 5,000 meter run. It marks the eighth-best 5,000-meter time in school history. Sophomore Mikel Thomas (Brooklyn, N.Y.) finished seventh in the men?s 400-meter hurdles with a personal-best mark of 52.51, the seventh-best time in school history.

Freshman sprinter Jenna Martin (Nova Scotia, Canada) notched a regional-qualifying time of 54.21 in the women?s 400 meter run, while senior distance runner Georganne Way (Lititz, Pa.) had a season-best time of 2:08.75 to finish third in the women?s 800 meter run.

Sophomore thrower Ashley Muffet (North Canton, Ohio) had a regional qualifier in the women?s hammer throw with a toss of 187-7, which is the second-best mark in school history. It bested her previous mark of 186-6 that was recorded last season at the Titan Invitational in San Diego. Fellow thrower Emily Bernhardt (Marietta, Ga.) won the women?s open hammer throw with regional-qualifying toss of 181-0.

Junior Luis Luna (Bariquisimeto, Venezuela) notched a regional-qualifying mark in the men?s 400 meter dash with a mark of 47.03 in the finals, which is a UK best in that event this season.

Freshman distance runner Katherine Peterson (Louisville, Ky.) also had a strong day, notching a collegiate-best time of 10:12.30 in the women?s 3,000 meter run
