LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Kentucky baseball program will honor the family of former pitcher Jon Hooker, a victim of Flight 5191 at Bluegrass Airport, in a ceremony to be held before the Saturday Kentucky-Vanderbilt baseball game at Cliff Hagan Stadium.

Hooker was a UK letterman under former head coach Keith Madison from 1998-2001. The London, Ky. native, was instrumental in the success of the 2000 club, which opened up its season winning its first 15 games, before finishing with a 38-20-1 record. During the 2000 campaign, Hooker appeared in 22 games, racking up five saves, in 39 innings of work. Hooker signed a free agent contract with the Chicago White Sox in 2001.

During the 2007 season, the UK baseball program will honor the Hooker family with an emblem placed next to the retired jersey of Madison, on the old right-field scoreboard. Before the game Saturday, Madison and the Hooker family will be on the field as part of the ceremony.
