The Kentucky men?s golf team jumped three spots at the third annual Hootie at Bulls Bay Invitational today, Mar. 25, in Awendaw, S.C. The Cats fired a second-round score of 285 to bring their two-day total to 586 (301-285). Only Wake Forest (279) and Baylor (280) posted better scores than the Wildcats on Monday at Bulls Bay Golf Club.
Central Florida leads the 15-team field with a score of 558 (270-288). UCF?s Greg Forest leads the individual standings with a two-day score of 133 (66-67) to stand at nine-under par after two rounds of play.
Sophomore Andy Winings led the Wildcats for the second straight day and shot a two-under par 69 to bring his two-day total to 140 (71-69). Four birdies helped the Brownsburg, Ind., native gain 13 spots in the individual standings, making him tied for sixth overall.
Junior Brad Doster also had a solid second round, carding a one-under par 70. Doster recorded three birdies on the front nine and one on the back to bring his total score to 145 (75-70). He is now ranked 29th overall.
Freshman Alex Volpenhein fired a second-round 72 (+1) to gain 15 spots and tie for 58th, while junior Cale Barr shot a 74 on Monday to bring his total score to 152 (78-74). Sophomore Ben Fuqua rounds out the scoring for UK with a second-day score of 76 to give him a total of 153 (77-76) which ranks him 68th overall.
The tournament concludes tomorrow, Mar. 27, with the third and final round.
