OXFORD, Miss.? The University of Kentucky men?s tennis team fell 4-0, to No. 9 Mississippi Sunday afternoon.

No. 54 Kentucky (10-8, 2-4) struggled to get going against a potent Rebels (16-2, 5-1) lineup. Ole Miss has now won 42 straight matches at home, and pushed its recent record against the Wildcats to 7-0.

The Blue and White played without junior Will Ward in the lineup, forcing lineup changes in both singles and doubles making a tall order even tougher.

Ole Miss took the opening doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2, and then pulled away with wins at No. 4, No. 5 and No. 1 singles.

Two Wildcats won their first sets prior to their singles matches being suspended once the home team notched the winning four points.

Senior Peter Bjork took his opening set 6-4 and led in the second 2-0 over Eric Claesson. Sophomore Kenny Hodge won by the same score as his teammate in the first set, but was trailing 4-3 in the second against Jakob Klaeson.

UK returns to action on Wednesday for a doubleheader at home against Tennessee Tech at 1 p.m. and Morehead State at 6 p.m. Kentucky will then host two SEC matches next weekend, welcoming the nation?s top-rated Bulldogs of Georgia on Friday and Tennessee on Sunday.
