Women's Golf

LEXINGTON, Ky. ?Freshman Eric Still has been tabbed the University of Kentucky women?s golfer of the week as chosen by the coaching staff.

Still led the team in scoring in both tournaments played this week, including her first-career top-10 finish in the 32nd annual Peggy Bell Kirk Classic.

The rookie from Waycross, Ga., fired an even par 72 in the third and final round to finish in second at five-over-par. She tied Methodist?s Katie Dick for the second, while Nova Southeastern?s Maria Garcia Austt took individual top honors with a score of one-under-par.

?I?m really happy for Erica,? said Coach Stephanie Barker. ?She played two really solid rounds to finish out the tournament, and played consistently. I think it was really fun for her to be in contention going into the final round, and she had a fantastic finish with a solid third round.?

Still fired three rounds in the 70s, with an opening round 76 and a second round of 73. Her even par final round was the second on the season for the young gun who has led the team in scoring in five tournaments and paces the Wildcats in every statistical category.

The freshman followed her performance at the Peggy Bell Kirk Classic by tying for the team lead in scoring with junior Beth Felts in the LSU/Cleveland Classic.

Freshman Erica Still enjoyed the best round of the day for the Wildcats carding a 76 for a three-round total of 21-over-par in the final round of action to help guide the ladies ahead of SEC-foe Mississippi for 20th place.

The Blue and White fired its best round of the tournament with a final round score of 312 to take a two-stroke advantage over Ole Miss for 20th place.

Kentucky returns to action on March 26 when they appear in the Lady Seahawk Invitational in quest of defending their crown from 2006.
