BATON ROUGE, La..–The University of Kentucky women?s golf team struggled in its opening day of play in the LSU/Cleveland Golf Classic on Friday.

Freshman Erica Still, a second-place winner earlier this week at the Peggy Bell Kirk Invitational, led all Wildcat scorers with an opening round 80. The freshman sits in a tie for 56th place. #1 Duke?s Amanda Blumenherst leads all individuals with an impressive four-under-par (68) to open play. Five players are under par through the first 18 holes.

Sixteen teams participating in the tournament are ranked in the top-50 in the country, with three teams are ranked in the top-10 led by the nation?s top team in Duke. Nine members of the Southeastern Conference are among the field of competitors.

Kentucky as a team opened with a 330 for 21st place, but trail Memphis by just four shots with two rounds left to play.

Senior Katie Johnson and junior Elizabeth Dotson are tied for 82nd after carding round one scores of 83. Junior Beth Felts shot an 84 good for a tie for 91st place. Senior Marissa Muir rounds out the scoring with an 85.

The Blue and White return to the links on Saturday for round two, and again on Sunday for the final round of the LSU/Cleveland Classic. Complete results can be found at www.ukathletics.com.
