LEXINGTON ? Current Kentucky standout Masumi Turnbull and former star Michael D?Agostino continue their road to the 2007 U-20 World Cup over the next two weeks as the pair begins training with the Canadian U-20 National Team for a pair of internationally friendlies against Scotland.
The pair has spent much of their time since Kentucky?s season ended with the national squad, competing in training camps in Florida in both January and February. The upcoming camp begins this week and takes place in D?Agostino?s hometown of Langley, British Columbia.
The two-week session wraps with a pair of friendlies against the Scots. The first takes place on March 24 in Burnaby, British Columbia, with the second leg in Victoria, British Columbia three days later. Both teams are qualified to compete in the FIFA U-20 World Cup, which is the second largest soccer tournament put on by FIFA.
D?Agostino and Turnbull are looking to join another former Wildcat, Riley O?Neill, as UK players to represent Canada in the U-20 World Cup. O?Neill competed in Nederland 2005.
At the camp, Canada expects to bring in its top 22 players, having its European and North American-based players together for the first time since last fall.
