WINTER SPRINGS, Fla..–The University of Kentucky women?s golf team sits in the middle of the pack in fifth place after playing two rounds in the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational Monday.
As a team Kentucky carded a two-round score of 622 (+46) and is just 11 shots out of third place. Two Lady Wildcats are individually in the top 10, led by freshman Erica Still.
Still turned in a five-over-par through two rounds and is in a three-way tie for second place. The leader, Maria Garcia Austt from Nova Southeastern scored a two-under-par to lead all individuals. Still opened the tournament shooting a 76 and then fired a 73 in the second round of the day.
Junior Beth Felts tied for seventh with a seven-over-par score. Just like her teammate, Felts opened with a 76 to start the day. She dropped a stroke in her second round firing a 75 in the afternoon.
Senior Katie Johnson sits in a tie for 25th after scoring a +15 (159), shooting rounds of 79 and 80. Junior Elizabeth Dotson, in her best rounds of the season, fired an 85 and 78 and stands in a tie for 38th. Senior Marissa Muir rounds out the Wildcat scoring in 61st place with scores of 88 and 83.
The third and final round is slated to begin at 9 a.m. EDT on Tuesday.
The annual tournament which plays tribute to one of the ?First Ladies of Golf,? is being played at the Tuscawilla Country Club in Winter Springs, Fla. The course is a par 72, 6,089 yards. Thirteen teams are among the field of contenders. Complete results can be found at www.ukathletics.com.
