The Kentucky women’s tennis team looks to continue its torrid start on Friday when it opens Southeastern Conference play at Auburn.

The Wildcats have won two straight after falling for the only time this year, including a big 5-2 win over South Florida this past Friday.

“We are very excited to start our SEC schedule,” Kentucky head coach Carlos Drada said. “I feel that we have done a great job preparing match-by-match and I look forward to seeing each of our players give their best effort during this weekend and the rest of season.”

The Wildcats have been virtually automatic this year to score three points. At No. 2, senior Joelle Schwenk has dropped just one match and has won 11 of her last 12 overall. At No. 4, freshman Sarah Woestmann has been perfect as a collegian, winning all nine of her contests.

In doubles, Kentucky has been dominant, winning the point in nine of 10 matches. Overall in dual play, UK doubles teams are a remarkable 22-5.

Last year, UK blanked the Tigers, 7-0, in Lexington. In the match, Kentucky won five of the six singles matches in straight sets. The Wildcats own the all-time series 18-6, including four straight victories.
