LEXINGTON ? The Kentucky men?s soccer team, which went 14-5-2 last season and ended the regular season ranked 13th, was the sixth most improved team in the country, it was announced by the NCAA on Wednesday.
The Wildcats showed a five-game improvement from a 6-7-6 campaign in 2005 en route to registering the second most wins in school history in 2006. With 44 goals, UK ranked 11th nationally in scoring while posting a miniscule 0.78 goals-against average, 23rd best nationally.
Kentucky finished the year second in Conference USA, one point behind top-ranked SMU, and reached the conference tournament championship match before falling to the Mustangs.
Adelphi, Cleveland State and Evansville all tied as the most improved teams with a 6?-game transformation.
