LEXINGTON, Ky.?Juniors Heather Bradford and Will Vietti earned their first career individual silver medals this evening in the 100-butterfly and 100-breaststroke, respectively, to highlight Kentucky?s night three of the swimming portion at the 2007 SEC Championships.

?Today went real well,? said a pleased coach Gary Conelly. ?We had a little trouble on Thursday, but today we had some real good events. There was some great swimming. Heather Bradford and Will Vietti really stood out today.?

Bradford?s time of 53.31 is a NCAA ?A? cut, UK record and career-best time. She bested her previous time of 53.53 set earlier in the morning in the preliminary competition. Bradford earned back her bragging rights in the family, as she reclaimed her record in the 100-fly away from her sister Jenny.

?Yes, I do have the family bragging rights,? said Bradford. ?She broke my school record earlier in the year, so I got it back.?

Vietti?s time of 53.97 was just a shade behind his UK record and career-best mark of 53.73 he set in the preliminary rounds this morning. Yet, the junior earned his first ever medal and put the UK men on the podium for the first time this year.

?I am going to go after the 52 mark next,? said Vietti. ?There is no real limit on how low I can go. It is definitely possible to lower my time.?

Jenny Bradford clocked in a time of 53.71 for fourth place in this evening?s 100-fly finals in the same event. Bradford topped her own previous best time in the swim. Freshman Megan Pulskamp earned quality points for the women with a 13th place showing in the fly event in a time of 55.62.

Freshman Chatham Penrod and junior Jill Southerlan notched a 13th and 16th place showing in the 100-backstroke in times of 56.51 and 57.26, respectively. Penrod?s time moves her into fifth place in the UK annals. Southerlan has now finished in the top-16 in the event in each of her three seasons with the Wildcats.

Thirteen became the lucky number for the Lady Wildcats as junior Lindsay Myhre also grabbed a 13th place showing as she touched in a time of 1:03.58 in the 100-breast. Myhre has also now placed in the event every year in the Blue and White.

Junior Lauren Willis earned 16th in the 200-freestyle event, the second night in a row the Lexington native has scored in an individual event. Willis touched in a time of 1:52.08 in tonight?s final.

In the final event of the night, the quartet of Penrod, Myhre and the Bradford sisters claimed a fourth place showing in the 400-medley relay. The ladies needed just 3:40.55, almost besting the Kentucky record which is 3:40.26. The women finish the night in fourth place with 307 points, they trail third place Florida by 79 points going into the final night of competition.

Vietti?s second place in the 100-breast led three Wildcat men in the event, as sophomore Mickey Malul topped the consolation heat with a time of 54.55. Junior Kristian Outinen placed 14th overall tapping in 55.77.

Sophomore Warren Grobbelaar also had a career-night, placing seventh in the 100-fly with a time of 47.89. The sophomore is having a breakout season in his second campaign, as he earned a ninth place showing in the 50-free just last night. Grobbelaar?s 100-fly time moves him into third place in the UK record books, topping associate coach Shaun Zitani?s career mark of 47.92.

?Anytime you swim your best time it feels great,? said Grobbelaar. ?Since I have been here, I have felt like I should be swimming faster and could be doing better. This is the first meet that I?m swimming with the big guys and it feels good. Being a sophomore now, I am definitely getting better.?

Freshman Alex Forbes earned his first individual points of his collegiate career in the conference meet with a 14th place time of 49.07 in the 100-fly. Forbes? time is good for sixth place all-time at Kentucky.

Sophomore Shane Eliason was the final male Wildcat to earn individual points, as he placed 11th in the 100-backstroke. Eliason tapped in a career-best time of 49.59, good for fourth place in the varsity records.

The men concluded the evening much like the women with a fourth place finish in the 400-medley relay. Eliason, Vietti, Grobbelaar and freshman Eric McGinnis touched in 3:15.61. Kentucky ends day three of swimming in eighth place with 146.50 points.

Action resumes at the Lancaster Aquatic Center for the final day of competition at 10 a.m. EST. Less than 100 tickets are available for the four day swimming sessions. Deck and bleacher tickets will be available for each day and will cost $20 for two sessions (one day of competition). Saturday preliminary events begin at 10 a.m., with the finals taking place at 6.
