In preparation for Saturday?s match-up between the 18th ranked Wildcats and the top-ranked Florida Gators, the University of Kentucky is preparing for a myriad of promotional events leading up to the game.
To kick things off, UK welcomes back to Rupp Arena. The GameDay set will be on the lobby off High Street for reports Friday night and surrounding the 9 p.m. UK-Florida game Saturday. However, for the 11 a.m.-noon show Saturday morning, the set will move to mid-court inside Rupp Arena. The doors open at 9:30 a.m. for fans wishing to attend the Saturday morning show. Students are to come through the regular Rupp Arena student entrance, while the general public should enter through the High Street lobby. Admission is free of charge.
In addition to GameDay, fans seated in the lower level will be provided blue and white tee shirts that they?re encouraged to wear. Tee shirts have been arranged to spell C-A-T-S on the four sides of the arena. The shirts will be placed in each seat in the lower level prior to tip-off. The student section, sections 35-43 including the Erupption Zone, will have blue tee shirts with a white ‘C’; behind the team benches, sections 28-34 will have white tee shirts with a blue ‘A’; across from the student sections, sections 18-27 will have blue tee shirts with a white ‘T’; and immediately to the students’ left in sections 11-17 and 44 will be white tee shirts emblazoned with an ‘S.’ Fans sitting in the upper level are encouraged to wear white to the game.
For the game that evening, the UK Student Group, “The acoUstiKats”, will begin the National Anthem and then encourage the entire arena to take over singing duties for them with the hope of a chorus of 23,000 performing the Star Spangled Banner.
