The Kentucky football team will be recognized at halftime of Sunday?s basketball game vs. Tennessee at Rupp Arena.
The football squad will be brought on the floor at halftime. University President Dr. Lee Todd will present the championship trophy from UK?s triumph over Clemson in the Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl. Dr. Todd and Coach Rich Brooks will speak to the crowd.
In addition, the Music City Bowl trophy will be on display after the basketball game. The trophy can be seen in the lobby of Rupp Arena/Lexington Center in the old Rupp floor area.
Kentucky?s bowl victory capped an 8-5 season, the most wins for a Kentucky team and the first bowl conquest in 22 years. Additional milestones achieved during the season included:
the first win in a Southeastern Conference opener in 19 years;
a win over Mid-American Conference champion Central Michigan;
the first win over Georgia in 10 years;
three consecutive fourth-quarter comeback victories over Georgia, Vanderbilt, and Louisiana-Monroe;
and third place in the SEC Eastern Division, UK?s best league finish since 1993.
