LEXINGTON, Ky. ? Sophomore Maggie Tincher?s (Winfield, W.Va.) personal-best mark in the pole vault on Friday highlighted a small group of five Kentucky field athletes competing in the opening day of the Rod McCravy Memorial in E.J. Nutter Field House.

The majority of the Wildcats will be in action Saturday with the remainder of the field events and all of the running events. Saturday?s activities get underway at 10:30 a.m. EST and live statistics will be available at ukathletics.com.

Tincher recorded a personal-best mark of 11-3.75 in the pole vault. Freshmen Emily Bernhardt (Marietta, Ga.) notched a collegiate-best mark of 53-11 in the women?s weight throw, while fellow rookie Kristen Smith (Marietta, Ga.) recorded a 52-4 in the weight throw.

On the men?s side, junior Alek Grietens (Nipomo, Calif.) and senior Andy Fryman (Maysville, Ky.) also both competed in the weight throw.

The teams also competed in the discus, which is a non-sponsored NCAA indoor event. The discus was not completed by press time.
