University of Kentucky head volleyball coach Craig Skinner has announced the addition of Annmaire Behr for the 2007 season. Behr joins the program along with outside hitters Ann Armes, Blaire Hiler and Sarah Mendoza and middle blocker Lauren Rapp who previously signed to play with the Wildcats next year.
?Annmarie is a great addition to our program and will fit in well with the type of character, work ethic, and commitment that our current players possess,? said Skinner. ?We have a tradition of great ball control and defense at Kentucky. She will definitely help us continue that strength in our program.?
Behr was a three-time All-Conference selection at the Visitation Academy of St. Louis. The 5-10 outside hitter and defensive specialist served as a team captain for two years and was named first team All-Conference as a senior. The St. Louis, Mo., native also garnered all-district and all-region honors last year.
Behr?s high school team reached the final four of the state championship twice and was a three-time district and sectional champion. Her Visitation team was ranked 18th in the nation by PrepVolleyball.com and set a school record for wins after compiling a 33-7 record in 2005. Behr also competed in basketball and soccer during her prep career. She was part of the 2006 state championship squad for soccer and was named All-Conference twice.
Behr also excelled in the classroom and was a four-year Honor Student at Visitation. She was also nominated for the Wendy?s High School Heisman Award.
