Four Kentucky Wildcats, cornerback Trevard Lindley, kicker Lones Seiber, linebacker Micah Johnson, and offensive tackle Justin Jeffries, were selected to the Southeastern Conference All-Freshman Team in voting done by the league coaches.
Kentucky led the league with four players on the squad, and UK has had at least three players on the SEC All-Freshman Team in each of the four seasons under Coach Rich Brooks.
Lindley (Hiram, Ga.) ranks third in the SEC in pass breakups with 12. He had one interception, a last-minute pickoff that sealed Kentucky’s win over Georgia. He made 50 tackles during the season, doing a good job in run support, and had one fumble recovery. Previously, he was named first-team Freshman All-America by Rivals.com
Johnson (Ft. Campbell, Ky.) played in all 12 games at linebacker and on special teams, including a pair of starting assignments. He totaled 29 tackles, including a season-high seven in the opener at Louisville. He caused one fumble and recovered another.
Seiber (Knoxville, Tenn.) missed the first two games while recovering from the effects of hip surgery, but has been the team?s starting placekicker ever since. He is second on the team in scoring with 62 points. He made 11-of-18 field goals, with a long of 48 yards, and 29-of-30 extra points.
Jeffries (Louisville, Ky.) was a reserve offensive tackle and also contributed on the field goal/extra point team. He also switched to defensive tackle at LSU when the Wildcats had numerous injuries at that position and made two tackles vs. the Tigers.
