Kentucky offensive lineman Hayden Lane has been named the Southeastern Conference Football Scholar-Athlete of the Year in voting done by the league coaches.

Lane (Lawrenceville, Ga.) graduated in three years with a 3.95 grade-point average and a double major in Anthropology and Classics. Currently, he is in his second year in his master?s in History with a 3.86 GPA. On the field, Lane has started 26 games in the offensive line during his Wildcat career.

The SEC Football Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award was founded in 2003. Lane is the first Wildcat to garner the honor.

Last week, Lane earned first-team Academic All-America honors for the second consecutive year from the College Sports Information Directors of America and ESPN The Magazine.
