Quarterback Andre? Woodson was named Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Week by the league office in recognition of his performance in Kentucky?s 38-26 win over Vanderbilt on Saturday.
Woodson completed 29-of-42 passes for 450 yards and four touchdowns, setting career highs for completions and yards and tying his personal best for TD passes. With the Wildcats trailing in the fourth quarter, he led three consecutive touchdown drives to clinch the game. He directed UK to 597 yards total offense, 203 more yards than Vanderbilt had allowed in any game this year.
This marks the fourth time this season that a Kentucky player has won a player-of-the-week honor from the league office. Woodson also was the Offensive Player of the Week after the win over Ole Miss, Keenan Burton was Special Teams Player of the Week following the victory at Mississippi State, and Trevard Lindley was Freshman of the Week for the win over Georgia.
Woodson?s performance has received attention nationally as well. Stewart Mandel of SI.com wrote about Woodson in his column, ?Five Things We Learned This Weekend?:
?That the best point guard in Lexington, Ky., doesn’t play hoops: Historically, Kentucky quarterbacks needed to be either a high-school legend (Tim Couch) or inordinately hefty (Jared Lorenzen) to get recognition. Andre Woodson deserves recognition because he’s just that good. Saturday night, the junior went 29-of-42 for 450 yards, four touchdowns and no picks in the Wildcats’ bowl-clinching win over Vanderbilt. And the Commodores’ defense is hardly terrible. On the season, Woodson has thrown for 2,575 yards, 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Rajon Rondo had nothing on this guy.?
Keenan Davis of NFL.com lists Woodson in his five ?Davis Dandies? of the week. Davis has a poll on his site to select the ?Davis Dandy? of the week. Fans can vote for Woodson by going to .
