The University of Kentucky men?s golf team is currently tied for 15th after one round of play at the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational in Orlando, Fla. The Wildcats posted a team score of 300 to tie with Texas Tech and nine strokes behind Georgia who leads the 18-team field with a score of 291 at the Isleworth Golf and Country Club.
A slew of Southeastern Conference teams crowd the top of the leaderboard. South Carolina trails Georgia by one stroke at 292, while Tennessee is third at 293. Texas, Oklahoma State and Florida are in a three-way tie for fourth.
Florida?s Toby Ragland leads the individual standings after firing a three-under par 69 in the opening round of play.
The Wildcats were paced by sophomore Andy Winings who is tied for seventh with a one-under par 71. Winings carded five birdies in the first round. Freshman Alex Volpenhein shot a three-over par 73 and is tied for 39th overall, while junior Brad Doster and freshman Derek Oldham each posted scores of 77 to tie for 55th in the individual standings. Senior Andrew Stephens rounds out the scoring for Kentucky with a six-over par 78 which ranks him 69th.
