With just one team in the clubhouse, play in the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at the Ridges has been suspended late in the second round due to darkness. The Kentucky men?s golf team is currently 15th with two holes to play after carding a team score of 312 (+16) in the opening round.
Host team East Tennessee State leads the 15-team field with a score of 291 (+4) through one round of play. North Carolina is second with a score of 296, followed by Tennessee in third at 294. Wake Forest (296) and TCU (592) ? the lone team to finish two rounds today ? round out the top five.
Sophomore Ben Fuqua leads the Wildcats and is tied for 34th overall with a score of 151 (77-74). Fellow sophomore Andy Winings is tied for 40th with a two-round total of 152 (75-77). Freshman Alex Volpenhein had to suspend play on 16 but fired a first-round 79 to stand tied for 53rd, while freshman Brian Belden carded an 81 in the opening round to stand tied for 70th when play was suspended for darkness.
Second round play will resume on Sunday, followed by the third 18 holes.
