Men's Golf

The University of Kentucky men?s golf team returns to action this weekend, Oct. 14-15, when it travels to the ninth annual Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate. The 15-team field will play three rounds over two days at The Ridges Golf and Country Club in Jonesborough, Tenn.

The field for this weekend includes Alabama, Auburn, host-team East Tennessee State, Kent State, UK, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Pepperdine, South Carolina, TCU, Tennessee, UAB, Virginia Tech, Virginia and Wake Forest. Of the 15-team field, 11 teams are currently ranked in the nation?s Top 50, with seven teams ranked in the Top 30. Individually, six players are ranked in the Top 50.

The Wildcats are coming off their first win of the fall season after defeating Louisville in a playoff at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate last weekend in Zionsville, Ind.

Kentucky?s Andy Winings finished second last weekend at Wolf Run. The sophomore will compete for the Wildcats again this weekend, along with junior Brad Doster, sophomore Ben Fuqua and freshmen Brian Belden and Alex Volpenhein.

?The Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate has a very good field and will give us another chance to see how we stack up against the best teams in the nation,? said UK head coach Brian Craig. ?We are taking a young but talented group and will need to show some improvement over the year?s first three events to be competitive in this field. We should be tournament sharp with this being the third week in a row we have competed and I am expecting a very good performance.?

Live scoring for the event will be available at Golfstat.com and UKAthletics.com.
