Senior Kentucky goalie Anne Ogundele has been named this week?s SEC Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office in Birmingham, Alabama.
Ogundele led the Wildcats (7-5-2, 2-2-1) to two more shutouts, this time recording clean sheets against ranked opponents South Carolina and Florida. Ogundele helped UK defeat South Carolina 1-0 behind three saves. She then held the Florida Gators scoreless for 110 minutes totaling 200 scoreless minutes on the weekend. She has recorded three consecutive shutouts and is on a 280 consecutive minute scoreless streak. Ogundele has now recorded eight shutouts this season, the second most by a UK goalie in program history.
?We?re all very happy for Anne. She continues to work extremely hard and she?s been doing this for us all year long,? said head coach Warren Lipka.
Ogundele is the second Wildcat to win the honor this season and the ninth in school history. Overall UK has received 12 SEC Player of the Week honors with Megan Jones being the most recent, winning the award on September 11 earlier this year.
