ATHENS, Ga.? The University of Kentucky?s sophomore tennis player Bruno Agostinelli fell in the final match of UK action at the Southern Intercollegiate in Athens, Ga., Sunday.
Agostinelli dropped a three-set match to Citadel?s Daniel Dossetor, ending the tournament for the UK club. Agostinelli struck first, claiming the closely contested first set 7-6. Dossetor roared back taking the second set 6-1. In the final set, Dossetor earned a 1-0 (10-9) decision to win the match.
UK?s duo of Agostinelli and classmate Shane Collins withdrew from the doubles bracket Sunday after beating Louisville?s Chris Herrlinger and Richard Rotaru on Saturday.
Agostinelli earned a 1-2 singles record over the weekend. Collins notched a 1-1 record in his first action of the fall season. Sophomore Greg Anderson, competing in his first fall singles tournament of his career, was 0-2.
The men?s tennis team returns to action in the Cincinnati Invitational Sept. 15-17.
