LEXINGTON, Ky. ? Kentucky setter Sarah Rumely has been named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week for volleyball, the league office announced today. This is the first SEC honor for Rumely.

?This is a great honor for Sarah in her first weekend as a Wildcat,? said second-year head coach Craig Skinner. ?She is very deserving of this award.?

Rumely recorded 176 assists in four contests, leading Kentucky to a 3-1 record with wins over Western Kentucky, Syracuse and Siena. The New Palestine, Ind., native had a season-high with 70 assists in the Cats? last outing against San Diego State. The newcomer also had a personal best with 10 kills against the Aztecs. Rumely set a season high with six services aces in the season-opening win over Western Kentucky. She added four aces in the win over Syracuse and three aces in the loss to SDSU.

Rumely leads the team with 12.57 assists per game and a .535 hitting percentage. She also has six blocks this season which ranks her third on the team with 0.43 per game. Rumely is fifth on the team with 20 digs and leads the team with 13 aces (0.93 per game).

Kentucky is currently 3-1 on the season and returns home tonight, Sept. 5, to host Morehead State at 7 p.m. in Memorial Coliseum.
