BEIJING, China ? Kentucky sophomore Gordon McKenzie (Queens, N.Y./Holy Cross) and the U.S. Junior National Team finished second in the finals of the 4×100 meter relay at the 2006 IAAF Track and Field World Junior Championships Sunday morning at the Beijing Chaoyang Sports Fitness and Leisure Park.
With McKenzie running the second leg in the relay team that consisted of Evander Wells, Willie Perry and Brandon Myers, the U.S. Junior National Team finished second with a time of 39.21. Jamaica won the event with a time of 39.05.
The U.S. Junior National Team reached Sunday?s final after posting a 39.50 to win their heat in the first round of the 4×100.
McKenzie?s performance was part of a successful day for the United States in the relays. The U.S. Women?s Junior National Team claimed both the 4×100 and 4×400 m relays and the men also finished first in the 4×400.
