The Governor?s Cup Classic, featuring a luncheon, news conference, and golf outing was held Wednesday at the University Club in Lexington.
The golf tournament benefited two charitable causes ? the Visually Impaired Preschool Services and the Trust for Life Organ Donation Program. Event sponsors included Kroger, Pepsi, Buffalo Trace, Kentucky Proud, and American Airlines. Larry Columbia and Greg Osborn of Kroger presented $10,000 checks to the general scholarship fund of the University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville.
A famous football alumnus from each school also is recognized for his contributions to football in the state. This year?s honorees were former Wildcat All-America defensive end Art Still and former Cardinal All-America defensive lineman Ken Kortas.
