LEXINGTON, Ky.?The University of Kentucky women?s golf team announced its 2006-2007 schedule for the upcoming season Friday.

Stephanie Barker?s UK women’s golf team will play five tournaments in the fall, highlighted by the annual Wildcat Fall Invitational. This year?s tournament is slated for Sept. 30-Oct. 1 at the University Club in Lexington.

?I?m excited about our schedule of events this season,? Barker said. ?There is a nice mix of events fairly close to home where we?ve experienced some great success, in addition to a couple of new venues. All of the events will provide our students the experience to compete against a wide variety of the top teams in throughout the country.?

The blue and white will once again appear in the Napa River Grill Cardinal Cup and the Lady Tar Heel Invitational. The tournaments will be held Sept. 18-19 and Oct. 6-8 respectively. Also on the fall schedule is the College of Charleston?s Cougar Classic on Sept. 11-12. Rollins College plays host to the Ross Resorts Invitational to round out fall play Oct 31.-Nov. 1.

To open up spring competition, UK will travel to Enccenada, Mexico for the Baja Invitational Feb. 5-6. The tournament is hosted by the University of Louisville and Southern Mississippi.

Kentucky will look to defend its title in the 2007 Lady Seahawk Invitational hosted by UNC-Wilmington. The Wildcats claimed last year?s event, to highlight a remarkable spring season. This season?s tournament will be played March 26-27.

Other spring tournaments include the 2007 Chrysler Challenge Feb. 24-26 and another appearance in the LSU/Cleveland Classic March 16-18. To conclude regular season play, the Wildcats will play the Crooked Stick Golf Course in Carmel, Ind. in the 2007 Indiana Invitational April 9-10.

The SEC Championships follow as Mississippi State plays host April 20-22. The conference will converge on the Old Waverly Golf Course to determine this year?s crown.

Kentucky?s roster is highlighted by the return of Beth Felts and Katie Johnson. Four incoming freshmen and four returnees are the make-up of the 2006-07 roster.
