LEXINGTON ? Greg Dombrowski?s complete-game victory over Ole Miss on Sunday was named Sunday?s best pitching performance in the nation by the Rosenblatt Report, a national college baseball website sponsored by Rivals.com, it was announced Monday.
Dombrowski allowed just five hits to the 17th-ranked Rebels, which entered the series having scored 10 or more runs in nine of their previous 11 games. He gave up a single unearned run on a Wildcat error with two outs in the ninth.
With the win, Dombrowski improved to 9-1 this year and took over the Southeastern Conference lead in victories. The nine wins are fourth most in UK history and the most since 1987. He also has a conference-best 2.28 earned-run average. His 5.5:1 strikeout-to-walk ratio is also the league?s best.
No UK pitcher has led the conference in wins since 1979 and it?s been since 1981 since a Wildcat led the league in ERA.
