LEXINGTON, Ky. ? The Kentucky women?s tennis team will receive its 2005 Southeastern Conference championship rings today during a ceremony at 3:30 p.m. EST at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Center. The ceremony will precede the Cats? match against No. 25 Georgia which is slated to begin at 4 p.m.

Last year, UK had a historic season by capturing its first-ever SEC title. The 2005 squad also reached the finals of the National Team Indoor Championships for the first time, won a school-best 15 matches in a row, captured the SEC Player of the Year honor (Aibika Kalsarieva), and finished the season as the No. 4 team in the country.

The Cats return six letterwinners from last season?s team and look to be hitting their stride once again by winning their last four matches. UK has a 12-6 overall record and is 5-1 in the SEC. The Wildcats are currently tied for second in the SEC Eastern Division with Georgia and Tennessee, the two teams they?ll be facing this weekend.
