Oxford, Miss. ? The No. 29 Kentucky women?s tennis team extended its winning streak to four matches and improved to 5-1 in Southeastern Conference action with a 6-1 victory Sunday over Ole Miss in Oxford, Miss. Five Wildcats extended their personal winning streaks against the Rebels as the team upped its record to 12-6 on the season.

UK began the match by winning the doubles point. The Cats? first victory came at the No. 2 spot where juniors Lara Maurer and Joelle Schwenk defeated Ole Miss? Kseniia Tokarieva and Nika Koukhartchouk 8-5. Kentucky clinched the point when the team of senior Danielle Petrisko and junior Caroline Winebrenner beat the Rebels? duo of Preethi Subramanian and Carlin Cochran 8-6. The victory moved Petrisko and Winebrenner?s SEC record to a perfect 6-0.

In singles action, Kentucky was dominant winning five of six matches.

Petrisko, a native of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., was the first Cat to record a singles victory on the day. Petrisko quickly dispatched Ole Miss? Koukhartchouk 6-2, 6-0, to gain her sixth straight win.

The Cats also received another stellar outing from freshman Carolina Escamilla who won her seventh straight match. The Medellin, Colombia, native improved her SEC record to 6-0 by defeating the Rebels? Mimi Renaudin 6-3, 6-3.

Fellow freshman Jessica Giuggioli also extended her current winning streak to seven matches. The Torino, Italy, native defeated the Rebels? Subramanian 2-6, 6-3, 6-3, at the No. 6 spot in the lineup.

Rounding out the Cats? day with victories was Schwenk and junior Kim Coventry. Schwenk beat Tokarieva 5-7, 6-1, 6-1, for her fourth straight win while Coventry took down Ole Miss? Virginia Tomatis 6-1, 4-6, 6-1 for her second consecutive victory.

?I am really proud and excited about all the efforts from our players today,? head coach Carlos Drada said. ?The team played disciplined tennis and really followed our strategies well. This was one of our best matches of the season. We have put ourselves in great position for the rest of the season.?
