Atlanta, Ga. – The Kentucky men?s swimming and diving team collected three more honorable mention All-America honors Friday in Atlanta at the Men?s NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. Kentucky gained honorable mention recognition in the 200 medley relay, the 800 freestyle relay and the 200 freestyle events. The placing in three events allowed UK to move up to 19th-place.
UK received its first honorable mention All-America honor of the day in the 200 medley relay event. The team of senior Daniel Farnham, sophomore Kristian Outinen, as well as freshman Mickey Malul and Warren Grobbelaar took 12th-place in the relay with a time of 1:27.77. The Cats finished :00.07 behind Minnesota for 11th.
Steven Manley, the reigning Southeastern Conference champion in the 200 freestyle, gained UK?s first honorable mention All-America honor in a singles event at these Championships. Manley gained honorable mention by finishing 13th in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:35.50.
The Cats’ final honorable mention All-America honor of the day came in the 800 freestyle relay event. The team of Farnham, Manley, Grobbelaar and junior Mark Doyle took 16th with a time of 6:34.87 in the finals.
The Men?s NCAA Championships will conclude Saturday at noon EST with prelims of the 100 freestyle, the 200 breaststroke and the 400 freestyle relays.
