Lexington, Ky. – The No. 29 Kentucky men?s tennis team was dominant winning seven of the eight matches played in a 5-2 victory over Murray State Wednesday at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Center. The win moved the Cats to 9-3 (2-0) on the season.

UK got off to a blistering start to the match against the Racers by sweeping the three doubles matches. Sophomore Marcus Sundh and junior Greg Johnstone, who won earlier against Indiana State, registered the Cats? first victory when they defeated MSU?s Fadi Zamjaoui and Dmytro Hryhorash 8-1. The freshmen duo of Gregory Anderson and Kyle Virgin clinched the point for UK with an 8-5 win over the Racers? Nicholas Kseizopolski and Clayton Clark.

In singles action, Kentucky notched wins at the No.1-4 spots in the lineup. Sundh won his 20th match of the season, matching last season?s victory total, with a 6-2, 6-2, victory over Zamjaoui. At the No. 2 spot, Anderson swept Hryhorash 7-5, 6-0, for his second win of the day. In the three hole, freshman Kenny Hodge quickly dispatched MSU?s Nicholas Kseizopolski 6-1, 6-0. Rounding out the Cats? victories was Virgin. The transfer from Western Kentucky recorded his second win of the dual match season by beating MSU?s Hunter Gerlach in three sets 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.

Kentucky will return to courts for a Southeastern Conference match up on Friday at 2:30 p.m. EST against No. 17 LSU. Fans can check ukathletics.com for a complete recap following the match.
