Kentucky sophomore guard Rajon Rondo was named All-District IV by the United States Basketball Writers Association Tuesday. The honor, selected and voted on by members of the USBWA, recognizes the best student-athletes from nine regions across the country. District IV includes players from colleges in Kentucky, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee and Georgia.

Rondo is averaging 11.9 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 4.7 apg and 2.1 spg for the 19-11 Wildcats. The Wildcats travel to the SEC Tournament in Nashville this week to face Ole Miss in first-round action Thursday at 3:15 p.m. ET.

A player and coach of the year are selected in each of the nine regions. Tennessee?s Chris Lofton and coach Bruce Pearl earned the honors for District IV. Also joining Rondo on the team were Memphis? Rodney Carney, Florida?s Joakim Noah and Taurean Green, Tennessee?s C.J. Watson, Alabama?s Ronald Steele and Jermareo Davidson, Vanderbilt?s Shan Foster, Louisville?s Taquan Dean and Miami?s Guillermo Diaz.

Other Southeastern Conference athletes honored include LSU?s Glen Davis and Darrell Mitchell and Arkansas? Ronnie Brewer. In addition, LSU coach John Brady was named District VII Coach of the Year.
