The University of Kentucky men?s golf team returns to the links after a two-week hiatus as they travel to the Hyatt Plantation Club Intercollegiate in Dorado, Puerto Rico. Georgia State hosts the three-day tournament which will be played March 5-7 at the Plantation Club.
Kentucky won this event last spring. The Cats posted a final round 279 to battle back from nine strokes down and claim the team title. The Wildcats finished with a team score of 851 (290-282-279) to finish two strokes better than second-place Georgia Southern.
This weekend the Cats will look to improve on a disappointing performance at the Gator Invitational in their last outing. UK finished 14th in Gainesville, Feb. 18-19, in the opening tournament of the spring portion of its schedule.
?We need to bounce back and have a good showing at this event,? said head coach Brian Craig. ?We seem to be starting to round into form, but have a lot of unknowns after our last performance. I am looking for some guys to step up and lead this team back to where it belongs.?
UK will send the same five-man squad that traveled to the Gator Invitational as Matt Kohn, Tyler Wilson, Brad Doster, Andy Winings and Dan Woltman make the trip to compete in the Puerto Rico tournament.
