LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky women’s golf team returns to the links Friday when it travels to Baton Rouge, La., to participate in the 25th annual LSU/Cleveland Golf Classic. The three-day tournament, hosted by LSU at the school’s University Club, begins with tee times at 9 a.m. EST Friday.
Live scoring for the 18-team tournament will be available at golfstat.com. Participating teams include: Alabama, Auburn, Augusta State, Birmingham Southern, College of Charleston, Florida State, Furman, James Madison, Louisville, LSU, Mississippi, Mississippi State, North Carolina, N.C. State, UNC-Wilmington, Vanderbilt and Virginia.
The Wildcats are coming off of a ninth-place finish at the Papa John’s Collegiate Invitational in Miami Lakes, Fla., Feb. 19-21. Senior Ali Kicklighter (DeLand, Fla.) fired a season-low 72 on the final day as the Wildcats finished the three-day tournament in ninth place. The Cats, who rebounded from a difficult second round, completed play at the Don Shula Golf Resort with a 921 (305-312-304).
Last season, the Wildcats finished ninth at the LSU/Cleveland Golf Classic. The Cats shot a three-day total of 921 to end in a three-way tie with James Madison and intra-state rival Louisville. LSU led throughout the tournament and claimed top team honors with a three-day total of 879.
