Athens, Ga. –The Kentucky swimming and diving team wrapped up the first day of the Bulldog Invitational Saturday in Athens, Ga. The meet serves as the last chance for competitors to improve their standings or qualify for the NCAA Championships.
After the first day of competition, the Cats were unable to secure any automatic NCAA cuts.
One Cat closing in on an NCAA bid was senior Shantel Commander, who notched a 2:15.48 in the 200 breaststroke. Commander will have another chance tomorrow to officially make the NCAA Championships in the event.
The meet will come to a conclusion Sunday with prelim rounds at 10 a.m. EST and finals beginning at 5 p.m. EST at the Gabrielsen Natatorium.
